Browser wars

Internet Explorer’s dominance since it was bundled with Windows from 1995 is rapidly decreasing. Newer browsers like Mozilla’s Firefox, Apple’s Safari and also since last year Google are taking market share. In the last 5 years IE has lost 1/3 its market share and the rate of loss is accelerating – on current trends it will be a minority browser within 2 years.

Last year to settle with the the European Union antitrust regulators it agreed to add a browser ballot screen to let users opt for a competitive browser.
