Azure moves forward

Many advances recently announced here are two that caught my eye.:

Windows Azure Backup Services. A simple offering for backing up Windows Server to the cloud.

Hyper-V Recovery Manager a service that uses Azure to coordinate the replication and recovery of private clouds that use System Center Virtual Machine Manager. For disaster recovery, the service will help users to replicate between two sites, (both of which can be on-premise).

New Internet top level domain names

ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers announced new generic top-level domain names yesterday,

In addition to well known domians like .com, .net and .org there are four new variations for the end of a web address., ICANN said these will be available soon:.

شبكة, which is Arabic for “web/network”;
онлайн, Russian for “online”;
сайт, Russian for “site”;
游戏, Chinese for “game(s).”

This is the first time these new “strings” have been approved under the new policy that was initiated in 2011. (Companies such as Google have requested new names too, e.g. .YouTube and .lol.)

A big thank you to our neighbours Globalis for the overall arrangements for the stand and the logistics.

An equally big thank you to all the staff who assisted both on the stand and behind the scenes to make this such a successful event for Synergy Software Systems.

We welcomed partners from BRSANYLYTICS, BI4Dynamics, Keyed-In, TCPOS and Zuchetti who helped to man the stands and to assist the many visitors.

And of course another big thank you to everyone who stopped by and made it all worthwhile – it may take us a day or two to follow up on all the inquiries!

Synergy Software Systems @ Gitex 2013 – Day 2

Synergy Software Systems partner, BI4Dynamics, is on the Microsoft stand and is getting a lot of interest from Dynamics Ax and NAV partners and Synergy’s customers.

Watch the main presentaiton today for a live demo or come to the stall next to the lecture area for a personal overview.

Microsoft used Gitex this year, to launch its latest 8.1 software in the Middle East.
Other tehcncial wizardy on display ranged from Google Glasses to a video greetings card.

On the main Synergy Software Systems stand near the entrance to Hall 7, the main draws have been BRSANALYTICS Banking Regulatory Reporting and the Schlage handpunch.

We have been fortunate to have received visitors from all over the Middle East particulalrly from those interestd in Microsoft Dynamics Ax, Dynamics CRM and SharePoint, and Prophix Corporate Performance Management.


There is still plenty of opportunity to meet with us over the next 3 days.

Gitex 2013 Dubai – Synergy Software Systems gets a busy start

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, inaugurated the 33rd edition of Gitex Technology Week 2013. He toured all the exhibition halls followed by a growing entourage and enthusiastic supporters, and the Synergy Software Systems stand was one of the first on his route.

Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, also attended the opening and there was a large contingent of top government officials, technology experts and business professionals.

The five-day Gitex event is expected to attract 130,000 conference attendees from 150 countries. It felt like most of them had already visited our stands by the end of a busy first day.

Microsoft Dynamics CRM v4 Customers- time to upgrade

Microsoft announced on April 9th 2013 the end of Mainstream support for Microsoft Dynamics CRM v4.0 with limited support during an extended support phase through to October 4th 2018- and we are now well into October!

No production of further fixes unless clients have purchased an extended hot-fix agreement with Microsoft

As your Microsoft solution partner, Synergy will still support you but we may not be ble to get any further patch support from Microsoft.

Our strong recommendation for all our Microsoft Dynamics CRM v4 users is to quickly move toward upgrading to the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 release to benefit from the huge enhancements that started with CRM 2011 and which are now further enhanced with the new user interface and new mobile and social capabilities outlined in our recent blog posts.
